Bacteriostatic vs Sterile Water
Sterile water is purified water with no preservative — suitable for single-use preparation but offering no protection once a vial is opened. Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing roughly 0.9% benzyl alcohol, a preservative that inhibits the growth of bacteria. That preservative is why bacteriostatic water is the common choice when preparing research peptide solutions: it allows a multi-use vial to remain usable over a period of weeks rather than a single session. Match the solvent to how long the prepared stock needs to last.
Vial & Surface Hygiene
Before piercing any stopper, wipe it with an alcohol swab and let it dry. Avoid touching the needle or the inside of the vial neck, and work on a clean, uncluttered surface away from drafts and dust. Use a fresh needle for each draw where practical. These small habits prevent the introduction of bacteria and particulates that can compromise a sample and skew experimental results.
